We had lots of fun harvesting potatoes! All total, we brought 18 kilos back to school with us. We will start our unit on potatoes by sorting and weighing them and finding the biggest, heaviest potatoes and the smallest ones.
This week we can finally get back into our working routines. In math I will start sending home our "Verstehen und Trainieren" workbooks for students that still need a little help understanding amounts up to 10. Others kids will receive the "Probieren und Kombinieren" workbooks to experiment with different mathematical strategies. Since the students want to show you what we are doing in math and also their workbooks, I will send them home for a day at a time. I know the students would love to finally get some homework, so I will have some pages marked that they may do alone at home if they like, but please make sure they don't rush through the work, and please check it with them afterwards. They should also only do the marked pages.
Then please mark your calendar for our school photographer, and for our visit to the Grips Theater on October 26th.
A huge thank you to Gwen and Urs for opening their home and hosting this year's Thanksgiving lunch on Monday, November 13th at their house and to Nathan for organizing this special event. This is a great tradition that the kids will remember for a long time, and it is a nice way to introduce Thanksgiving to our German families.
Also, I need more supplies for art! Please send in old newspapers for our art projects; I am also looking for larger Quark or yoghurt containers for our various painting activities.
