I still need 1 more helper for some summer cleaning coming Wednesday around 13:10. We will clean and wipe the cubbies and shelves, dust the lamps and window sills and move all sideboards into the book corner so that the floors can be thoroughly cleaned during summer vacation. I hope we are done in less than an hour. We could start around 13:15. Please let me know if you have time to come by.
Also, we will have a class picknick on Thursday at the Elfie Wiese. Every student should bring a drink for themselves and a snack to share with all other students in class. I will bring a large blanket, paper plates and napkins. The students will sit together and share all of their food. So every healthy snack like cut veggies, berries, wraps, grapes, mini sandwiches, falafel balls, mini sausages / meatballs / veggie meatballs, bread chips, crackers, dips, Butterbrezeln, etc is welcome. Also one round of mini cupcakes or cookies as desert would be highly appreciated! We have 20 students in class. I will treat the kids for some ice cream after that.
Last day of school: We will have a short day on Friday. School ends at 10:35. Because of the chaos on our school campus and the many students and parents, I will come out with all of the pick-up kids at 10:20 already, so please be there to collect your child. Late Birds and Hort will take place as usual as well. Please let me know by Friday if your child will be picked up. Otherwise I will assume that they will go to their usual after school routine.
Have a relaxing, fun and sunny summer vacation. The students have grown so much over this year and it was fun accompanying them on their 1 st grade journey. I am looking forward to 2nd grade, where we will welcome some new students to our class.
As always, please encourage your children to read over summer vacation!
Upcoming Events in 2nd grade
Excursion to the Allied Museum, tba: With the motto of 'When Chocolate Rained Down from the Skies' we want to take a journey back in time to the Berlin Airlift. Highlights of the tour are the story of the “chocolate pilot” Gail S. Halvorsen and an inside tour of a British Hastings TG 503 airplane used in the Airlift. Students will craft their own “chocolate parachutes” and have them dropped from the Airlift plane.
